Abstract
In this interview conducted in a Berlin cafe in June 2024, Alan Pauls reflects on the intimate and critical relationship that this European city establishes for Latin American writers who pass through it, and vice versa. In this sense, the conversation suggests thinking of Berlin as an object of writing and a laboratory of literary experimentation. Likewise, the present dialogue makes it possible to distinguish the characteristic features of autobiographical writing and the singularities of the intimate diary from a personal point of view. Based on his current life in Germany, the Argentine writer discusses his experience living abroad, mainly with regard to the changes that this migratory transition has brought about in his latest publications. Finally, the interview concludes with some general comments on the rise of the extreme right wing worldwide and its effects on the ways of narrating the contemporary social and political context.
